What is the importance of utility bills?
Utility bills are an ancient tradition. They have arisen from the desire of the utility (natural gas, electric, water, garbage, telecommunications, etc.) to inform you of the amount of the services the utility has provided you and to request payment that they have been authorized to collect from you for providing those services. The reason they are important is that if you do not provide payment for said services, the utility could stop providing the services to you and undertake other authorized collection activities against you.
