What happens to things like rent?

During the Black Death, which killed 30% to 60%, those things got disrupted. I dont think COVID19 will be that disruptive. I think people will still work and shop; there may be relief passed for people who have to self-quarantine. Ordinary work settings and grocery stores are not especially contagious; even riding the commuter rail, I didnt catch the flu most years when I didnt get a flu shot. More people will work from home, but warehouse and factory people cant. More people will order online, and delivery people will keep delivering. Some hard hit businesses will need to lay people off, especially if they source in Asia. Some medicines may go short. Ball games and concerts may be cancelled or play without an audience, and movies and theater will be in trouble. And cruise lines are going to have a really bad time of it. Medical care will be swamped. Italy even forbade funerals and weddings. But rent/mortgage, bills, and utilities still need to be paid, illustrating the importance of having a substantial emergency fund.
