Utility companies want payment for their services. I don't believe they care who pays the bill as long as it's being paid. You might be required to pay a deposit if you've not established your creditworthiness to a particular utility company, and your son might have difficulty obtaining a Real ID without a utility bill in his name proving where he resides. Contact the utility companies and find out their procedures for changing the name on the accounts. Because utility usage is ongoing, there will be final readings involved and balances due prior to establishing service in a different name.
