Can my landlord ask I pay the increase in utilities bill since I'm?

Theres the contract and theres whats fair, and the potential consequences. If the agreement states landlord pays all utilities, then he must and youre not obligated to do so. On the other hand, if hes incurring higher than expected expenses because of your change in lifestyle (albeit involuntary), you might consider offsetting that. You should also consider maintaining good relations with him if he feels your situation is unfair to him, it could affect his decision whether to renew your lease. Would not paying the relatively small increase in costs (which YOU are creating) be worth the consequences if it creates animosity?
