Can mailed utility bills be forwarded to a PO Utility Bill.com during a divorce?
In principle, yes it can be forwarded, but there are certain conditions that may preclude it. is the bill jointly addressed to both spouses? If so, both parties must agree to the forwarding order. If one party files a change of address and the other party disputes it, the mail will continue to be delivered to the original, jointly held address. If each party files contradictory forwarding orders, the Postmaster may withhold the mail from delivery as being "In Dispute." If the sender (the utility company in this case) has endorsed the bill with "address service requested" or something similar, the USPS must return the mailpiece.
