Can landlords bill you for utilities after your lease has been?
Can landlords bill you for utilities after your lease has been terminated, yet they were negligent to bill you during your stay? If your lease agreement said you would pay the utilities and that the landlord would bill you, then yes, you must pay them even if he didnt bill you in a timely manner. You agreed to pay them. Unless the lease gave a deadline for him to bill you (Landlord must submit utility bills to tenant within 20 days of receipt or Landlord must submit utility bills to tenant before the 30th day of each month) then he can wait and send you a whole years worth at once if he wants. You KNEW you were supposed to be paying the utilities. Did you contact the landlord each month asking for your bills? Or did you just let it slide, hoping hed forgotten?
