Can a landlord put late fees on a utility bill?
We are landlords of custom built homes. Each tenant sets up their electric account with Tri-County Electric Coop. It is the utility company that adds a late fee if one of them does not pay the bill on time. That utility company will also tell me if or when the electricity is going to be disconnected. It does get cold at times in North Texas and I need the electricity on to keep the pipes from bursting in any of those homes. Luckily we have only had the one tenant we call the tenant from hell ...
