All the room mates refuse to pay the utility bill.?

Usually there is a primary name on a utility bill and others, such as roommates, are listed as co-applicants, or something similar. So my first question: are you the only person listed on the account? If you are, you have a problem as you are the only one legally liable for the utility payment. Unfortunately, if your roommates are not already listed as co-applicants, you cannot add them without permission. When next you acquire roommates, make that part of the agreement or process by which they become your roommate(s). Assuming you are the only named person on the account, here are some options. Pay only your share (1/2, 1/3, 1/4 whatever). Call the utility and tell them why the payment is only partial. If it is not enough you will get one or more disconnect notices. Share those notices with your roomies. Eventually the power will be turned off (and your credit score will take a hit). But with the power off, your roommates might actually come up with some money. Pay the bill, but call and disconnect the service as of a future date. Tell your roommates the utility will come out and turn off the power on that date. Either let them reapply for power in their name (there may well be a connect fee) or altogether as co-applications with your roommates. They are now equally liable for the bill. If they wont do that, there will be no power. This option is as close as you can get to removing your name from the utility bill. Pay the bill. However, short pay your rent equal to the amount your roommates owe you for the utility bill unless they are also not paying their share of the rent and inform them they have to make up the difference or you will all be thrown out onto the street. Get new roommates either by getting them to leave, or leaving yourself. They sound like people you really dont want to live with anyway.
